Get Your Child Ready for School on Time – Punctuality is the Foundation for Moral Discipline

Many parents face the daily challenge of getting their children ready for school on time. It is funnier fact that getting up for school in the morning feels a lot harder than waking up on the weekend. Of course, having to get up early after sleeping in all summer long is not easy for everyone. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way and with a little preparation, getting out the door on time each day not only is possible, but totally doable. It just takes some effort.

Establish a night routine: It is important that your child get a good night’s sleep to be active and present the next day. You can set time for your child’s bedtime and wake-up time. Parents need to ensure that their child gets enough sleep which is 12 hours for Preschool kids and 10 to 11 hours for primary school kids. So, if you have a 3-year-old kid then make sure your kid goes to bed by 7 pm and wakes up by 7 am. You can also invest in an alarm clock to make your child feel the responsibility to get ready for school.

Organize a Hanging shelf: Before the school begins or at weekends put a week’s worth of school uniform into the shelf and allot each shelf for a day in the week. Similarly, organize shoes and socks the night before school. Check the school diary or schedule to make sure PE dress and shoes or any other event dress is in order and on an appropriate shelf. This can reduce the hassle of dresses and shoes for a week long. And make sure to check your child’s clothes including socks and shoes a night before and always have an early warning to a stock of clean underwear.

Have a Food Plan: Know in advance exactly what you are going to make for breakfast and pack for school lunch. Creating a breakfast and lunch menu works well. If you want to be even more efficient in the kitchen there are plenty of helpful tips and articles online. Don’t feel guilty if breakfast isn’t an elaborate affair. A breakfast of healthy cereal, yogurt and a piece of fruit will do. Make it easy for your child to have fruit by slicing a banana or chopping strawberries into her cereal. Also keep an emergency pack handy with a cereal bar, hairbrush, hairband, tissues, plasters, a bottle of water or a carton of juice and a spare couple of Dirhams.

Remove all Distractions: Make sure TV is off and there are no toys around to prevent your child from being distracted especially during breakfast.

Prepare School Bag night before: School Bag should be packed the night before. Have your child pack their school bag or you can assist to pack their bag after homework. Leave the bag near the door the night before and it will be one less thing to do by morning. This also teaches your kid to be responsible and organized. If you feel that it will save even more time then organize your kid’s shoes and socks near the front door.

Practicing these will give your child a sense of anticipation for the next day and learns the responsibility to be prepared and organized. So, your kid is awake, dresses, fed and out the door on time.
